During his career, Erik has worked as a sustainable change practitioner in the public, private, third and now academic sectors. Until June 2007, he was Executive Director of the UK National Centre for Business & Sustainability

Previously, he was Co-operative's UK's sustainability advisor, and currently performs the same function for the City of Liverpool. He is a member of the UK Sustainable Development Panel, and a non-executive Director for the social enterprise FRC Group, and Migrant Workers North West

His most recent book, Positively Responsible, deals with winning ways to motivate people to make sustainable decisions. He is currently collaborating with the Environment Agency to change community behaviour towards climate change

Earlier work has included proposals for sustainable change through public sector governance, social enterprises, recycling, the contribution to society by ethnic minorities and disabled people, and the relationship between health in the workplace and sustainable performance in business
